The meeting.

Hi!
I recently got an internship with Giambattista Valli. He is a French designer that was born in Rome. He has amazing collections and does runway shows in Paris. I recently got a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with his company for Market Week. I am honored to of gotten this chance to meet so many amazing people, see a collection that no one has seen yet, and work with the top people in the fashion industry. I was asked to make a journal of my experience for my boss and I wanted to share with everyone the opportunity I got to experience. I hope you enjoy!
I had been emailing (my now boss) for a couple of weeks. She is a family friend of ours and my dad mentioned that I was interested in fashion. I sent her an email and the next thing I knew she wanted to meet me. Every time I saw her name in the sender for my email my heart would start pounding from excitement. For me, I'm the girl that lives in a very small town where no one goes anywhere and everyone from high school gets married. Typical cliche, and for this to be happening to me was like I'd died and gone to heaven. Nothing like this ever happens, especially to someone like me.
As soon as I realized this was actually happening, I got to work and started researching the designer and his collections. I wrote down everything from where he was born to his interests. Anything that I could find on Google went into my research. Then, I studied his collections and made notes about them. The first one I did individual pieces but he has had quite a few collections with fifty or so looks in each. My next method was to summarize the collection since it has color themes since collections need to be cohesive. Many hours later and six pages later I had enough research to get me through our meeting. I was going to type it up but left it in my (sloppy) hand-print so she could tell I didn't just copy and paste it and to show that I actually did the work.
She emailed to meet me one Friday but my friend was sleeping over and I looked at my email to late. I had this sinking feeling we'd never meet especially since the dates for the internship were creeping up. We finally set up our meeting on January 8 at 2:30. I had to teach skating in the morning (I'm a competitive ice skater) and went down for our meeting. I admit, my insides were shaking because I didn't know if this was an interview, a meeting, or what was going to happen. Our meeting may of slipped her mind for just a second but we ended up meeting at Panera. My dad brought me and she sent him away while we chatted. We got right down to the nitty gritty of it. I didn't do a very good job of hiding my nervousness and she told me to relax and save this for when we started working with the big names. She asked me if I knew the designer and I pulled out my folder with all the information of research. She was very impressed by this and told me she had people come in for jobs that didn't even know how to pronounce his name. Being a fifteen year old girl she was blown away by me. This of course made me very happy. She told me all about what she did for the company and what position she held. Trust me, she's a big wig, she's even on the designer's website for the commercial aspect. She got into about what I'd be doing while I was interning. For any girl that's dreamed of being in (some aspect) of the fashion world, this world she told me of was glamorous and almost unreal. Not to name drop but she said I'd get to meet people from Vogue, Saks, Neimans, ect. Any girl hearing those names would be drooling and I'd get the chance to be working with them. My hands were nearly shaking under the table and I couldn't contain the giddy grin. She was very impressed by me and my dedication. I got the internship!! I felt like this was my big break into the world. My parents couldn't of been more proud and I couldn't of been more excited. It was like a dream come true. Most people don't get the chance to work with the people I was about to work with and barely any fifteen year olds get this opportunity. I am eternally grateful for this chance and getting into this high end fashion world.
